Google updates is Google Drive to the data leaking flaw, download the latest version now

A flaw which existed in Google Drive has been fixed with the new update and all readers, PC, smart phones and tablet users are requested to update their Google Drive App.  The flaw which was similar to the Dropbox flaw made some of the files stored on Google Drive and shared with friends or colleagues via a direct link potentially which could be reached or accessed by unwanted person or unauthorized third parties.

Google Drive updated to fix the file sharing flaw which allowed unwanted users to access your private files

The flaw was explained by the Technical Program Manager at Google,  Kevin Stadmeyer as follows.  The flaw was relevant only if the file in question was uploaded to Google Drive directly without converting it into Docs, Sheets, or Slides (Google Drive formats) which means that the flaw existed only for those files which remained in their original format such as .pdf, .docx, etc. on Google Drive.  Once the user made this original format files available to "Anyone with the link," and the file contained hyperlinks to third-party HTTPS websites in its content, the flaw kicked in.  The flaw could allow the admins of those third-party HTTPS websites to receive header information from which the URL leading to the file could be extracted.

With this update the, Google has resolved that flaw but all previously upload and shared documents which where uploaded unconverted to the drive are till vulnerable to the access of unwanted users. Therefore Google has advised users to create a copy of the document, share the link to it with the intended recipients, and finally delete the old file.

You can update your Google Drive Apps below :

Crunchfish launches an iOS App called GoCam which lets you take touchless 'Selfies' and 'Groupies'

Selfie or Groupie is the latest trend that has the social networking sites agog.  There are loads of Apps for both iOS and Android for taking selfies but all these are camera Apps and need for the user to click or tap a button.  Crunchfish has recognised just that and come out with an App called GoCam  for iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch devices.

Swedish technology startup Crunchfish has developed the App, GoCam which lets users take photos of themselves without having to touch their screens. Crunchfish hopes to GoCam will be game changer in the highly popular selfie Apps market.  Crunchfish’s GoCam lets users trigger photos or videos from a distance with just hand gestures.   The selfies or groupies can be triggered from a distance of up to 3 meters according to Crunchfish.  LG has a similar kind of feature to take selfies using gestures for its flagship G3 but GoCam will be the first App for iOS operating system to give such a feature.  Crunchfish plans to release a Android version based on user adoption.

The Malmo Sweden based company said that the GoCam will be available for free for users in Sweden and Australia and would be released whole over the world soon. Gesture control is not new in the technology world but a very resource hungry feature thus limiting its applicability for mobile devices, so it will be a good sign to see how GoCam progresses with its release.

iOS users from Australia and Sweden can download the App from Apple Store and enjoy taking selfies or groupies.

OLX Mobile App, a fun way to buy/sell/rent your house, cars and other products now available for all smart phones

You may have heard the slogan "OLX Pe Bech Do" and "Sab Kuch Bik Ta Hai" and wondered what it is all about, here is a chance to find out.  OLX is a free classifieds site for Indians where you can post your product, both new and used, and get buyers directly. The transaction happens seamlessly without any extra third party charges due to rugged platform that OLX provides.  Till recently the Nasper funded OLX was operating from a online site but as it gained traction and popularity and due to demands of its users, it has launched its own OLX App for mobile for iOS, Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry and Amazon products.

OLX Mobile App, a fun way to buy/sell/rent your house, cars and other products now available for all smart phones

Imagine a case where you need to move to a new city for a job or a internship/education.  Once you decide to move you need a rented accommodation, searching for which is often a big pain both resource wise and money wise.  Searching on Google often leads you to classifieds which require your email ids and often flood them with 'Spam'.  In times like these, the OLX App is a god sent favour. You just have to download the App and sign up and enter the requisite accommodation and the required city in the search field and OLX will show up the results based on your preference, budget and lifestyle.  Ditto in case of buying a new house, the OLX gives you the information and details of the house, area etc without leaving the comfort of your bedroom.

In another case, you want to rent a car for a day for a sojourn to a city, receiving guests or the biggest day of your life, your wedding. OLX offers perfect results for the type of car rentals you would be requiring along with the cost involved to help you make the best choice.  Vacations are another of our needs in this life which is filled with monotonous routine. Making rounds of different travel agencies is now a thing of the past thanks to the OLX mobile App.

The OLX mobile App helps other way around also.  If you have a room to offer on rent or for sale you just have to click a picture via the built in camera button in the App, add a brief description of the house you are offering,  give a estimate of price you want to charge, provide your contact information and voila, your ad will now start appearing on OLX App.  You can use the App same way to sell/rent your vehicle or pretty much anything under the sky.

OLX mobile App has a option to “share” your ad with your Facebook friends and/or fan pages getting maximum coverage and immediate response. With this OLX app it is not necessary to share the location coordinates, but adding the location makes it easier for the buyer to make the perfect choice.  This can easily done through the maps’ integration within the app.

The advantage of downloading a OLX mobile App over the mobile site is that the OLX App is a native App which allows it to use the mobile API for your ease.  For e.g. you can simply click the image of the product you intend to sell from within the App and the image instantly appears on the OLX site.  iOS users can also be a part of the growing OLX community through  OLX App for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.

If you thought that OLX was just popular in India through its OLX.in portal give it a rest, OLX has built up formidable positions in multiple markets including Brazil, India, Portugal and Pakistan., however India has been a standout among all markets. OLX pioneered in creating the consumer-to-consumer (C2C) selling market segment in India.  The C2C segment didn't exist prior to OLX's entry and gives the Indian buyers and sellers a broker/third party free option to buy and sell their products.

The Nebraska based secure back encryption firm, Linoma Software has released its GoAnywhere File Transfer app for the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Android smart phones and tablets.  This new App enables users of iPhone/iPad and Android smart phones to connect with their corporate or personal network and transfer files securely.  As all readers know, security and privacy is the new buzzword after all the snooping, wiretaps, heartbleeds etc. going on.

Secure File Sharing App for iOS and Android Released download the GoAnywhere App for your iPhone and Android smart phone now

According to Linoma, this new app enables users of Apple and Android phones and tablets to easily and securely connect with their corporate network to transfer files. The user friendly menus and a very user friendly UI allows even a non tech person or layman to download or upload files without any special tutorials or training.

“File management is a critical function in any workplace and, without a secure BYOD solution, users will find a workaround to maintain productivity”, said Bob Luebbe, chief architect for GoAnywhere. “Delivering mobility tools that make it easier for workers to connect with corporate servers reduces reliance on policy enforcement to control data security.”

The mobile app connects with GoAnywhere Services – a secure FTP server for enterprise – all file transfer events are logged to meet compliance with SOX, PCI DSS, HIPAA and state privacy laws which means that the files are secure and eyes only for the users.

“We’re always listening to our customers, and this new mobile app is a direct result of that feedback”, Luebbe explained. “Our customers’ trading partners and vendors can also use this app to exchange files with our customers’ systems. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

You can get the GoAnywhere File Transfer App for your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch from Apple Store here.  Android users can download the GoAnywhere File Transfer App from Google Play here

As of now, it is free to customers licensed for the GoAnywhere Services HTTP/s module. GoAnywhere Services – part of the GoAnywhere Managed File Transfer (MFT) software suite – makes it easy for trading partners, remote employees and other external parties to initiate encrypted file exchanges through standard protocols including SFTP, FTPS and HTTPS.

NOTED : A simple gestured based FREE note taking App for your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch

As already said above, the main USP of Noted is its simple and easy to use UI.  Though it is not in the class of Evernote, it is very interactive.  The main feature of Noted is using swiping for pretty much.  You have to just pull down to create a new note and/or hand-pick your color of choice.  Same way if you want to view another note swipe left or right to view other notes you have created.  Using two finger swipe will delete the note.  If you are working with multiple notes, you simply pinch to view all your notes together or swipe to the side to go through your various notes.
