Get Android L Keyboard and Google Home Launcher on any Android Device!

Even though Android L developer preview has been making headlines for both the Nexus 5 and the Nexus 7 2013 it's unfortunate that those are the only two devices to get a supported Android L developer preview. 

Luckily for anyone who doesn't own a Nexus 5 or Nexus 7 2013 we can now install the Android L keyboard and Google Home launcher on just about any Android device, phone or tablet. I guess Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 can't have all the fun! I didn't find any differences between the Kitkat and Android L Home launcher, but I added the files anyway.

This process is straight forward on how to get both the Android L keyboard and the Google Home launcher on an Android device since it's just installing APKs. Best of all, these procedures don't require any root at all (except for Nexus devices)!

Download Android L keyboard and Google Home launcher using the links below. Also follow the step by step guide located below the download links!!

Download Velvet.apk
Download GoogleHome.apk
Download LatinImeGoogle_noroot.apk 
How to Install Android L Keyboard:
Note: 

• If you already have a version of Google Keyboard installed, uninstall it first!
• Nexus users! - Nexus 4, Nexus 7 2012, etc. You must be rooted and uninstall the stock Google keyboard to install the Android L keyboard on your Nexus device!

1. Go into Settings > Security > and check mark "Unknown sources".
2. Download LatinImeGoogle_noroot.apk to your phone using the download link located above.
3. Locate and tap on the APK file, you can use an app like File Manger to help you locate the APK. 
4. Tap on "Install" and then "Done". 
5. Go into Settings > Language and input > and select "Google Keyboard". 
6. Now tap on the gear symbol next to "Google Keyboard" > Advanced settings > and change Color scheme to "Material". 

You now have Android L keyboard on your Android phone or tablet! 

How to Install Android L Home Launcher:
1. Go into Settings > Security > and check mark "Unknown sources".
2. Download Velvet.apk and LatinImeGoogle_noroot.apk using the download links located above. 
3. Locate and tap on Velvet.apk, you can use an app like File Manger to help you locate the APK. 
4. Tap on "Install" and then "Done". 
5. Repeat steps 3-4 with GoogleHome.apk.
You're done, you now have Android L Google Home launcher on your Android device!

Android L ROM with Root for Nexus 5!

Android L ROM for the Nexus 5 is out and it also comes with root! This ROM wasn't easy to make flashable and also rooted. I was closely following the thread and developer all day yesterday with all new versions constantly running into a new problem once flashed on the Nexus 5, but now it works great!

If you already haven't heard Android L (5.0) developer preview brings some nice new changes and looks to Android. One of my favorite changes was the keyboard. The keyboard has a much cleaner look and the gray background just looks right!

Some other great enhancements were that the notification now shows up on the middle of your lockscreen and the notification shade is a 2 layer pull down. The first layer pulls down to show your notifications, keep pulling down and you will see your toggles like WiFi, data, bluetooth, etc.

How to Install:
1. Enter into recovery mode
2. Wipe your phone
3. Install N5_L_PREV_LPV79.zip
4. Install UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.01.zip

5. Reboot your phone

Android L Review on Nexus 5 | Features, UI, & More!

As promised Android L developer preview was released earlier today. This preview is not only great since it helps developers get a head start to making even better apps and improving their already make apps, but it's also nice to taste Android "L". 

Android "L" has made a nice bump in new features and looks compared to the jump from Jellybean to KitKat. A new look, cool transitions, and an all new project. This year the Android team is going to be working on Project Volta which will help improve battery life, as much as 90 minutes. 

If Project Volta is anything like Project Butter then it will be another huge accomplishment for Android. 

Let's go ahead and take a look at some of the new added features, UI, and some other thing that were shown in the latest Android L developer preview! 

Wallpaper:

A new brown, grey, white, and blue wallpaper is included in the latest Android L. This is the only new wallpaper included.

Navigation Keys:

New look on the navigation keys. Triangle is back, circle is home, and square is recents.

Recents:

Recents apps are stacked like Google Now cards instead of showing them in a row. I like the change, but might not be the most convenient with a lot of apps open.

Apps (Calculator, Settings, & Dialer):

The Calculator icon is changed and the actual calculator app has changed. Grey buttons and the numbers in the number pad aren't separated. 

Settings has a white background and icons are a blue/green teal.

Dialer has changed color to blue, yellow, and white all throughout the app. Dialer pad has also been changed to a white/blue scheme.

Effects (Pull down/Tap) 

A gray effect when you reach the pull down/up limit. It also moves with your finger, thought that was pretty neat.

When you tap on the new updated apps it creates a circular ripple effect.

Easter Egg:

Is it a Webdriver Torso, it's a simple video quality tester. This is most likely not the finished product by a long shot.

Notification: 

The notifcation shade has changed big time. It's a two part pull down. The first part will show you the notifications, the second part (if you keep pulling down) will show your toggles like WiFi, bluetooth, etc.

Keyboard: 

A new keyboard that has a very clean look with the grey background and no lines that separate each letter.

Lockscreen: 

Instead of always turning on your phone and then swiping down from the notification shade, all your notifications will be displayed in the center of the lockscreen. Swipe down the on the notification for more details.
